Short name of influenza is flu. It causes sudden fever and
pain in the muscle of the body. Usually it happens in winter or spring season. Infection
is main cause of flu, there is often some or other change in the symptoms. It starts
with cold and shivering and then fever develops which can go up to 102 – 103
degree Celsius. This affects the upper portion of breathing system.
Along with fever, the other symptoms are sneezing, body ache,
headache, dry cough, indigestion, debility and there is secretion from eyes and
nose. The fever persists for two to five days and after that it subsides. It spreads
rapidly from one person to another.
Safety Measures:
Avoid going to place that are crowded with people. Do not over tire yourself. Gargling
every day the saline warm water is helpful. Smelling mustard oil every morning
or massaging the body with it is beneficial to treat influenza.
Treatments:
Lemon: Drinking
lemon juice mixed with warm water protects various limbs of the body. It helps
in fractured bones, pain, coryza, catarrh and flu. Lemon water should be taken
frequently in all the mentioned conditions.
Orange: It is
believed in some parts of the world that during the spread of epidemic of
influenza eating oranges protects from the disease. Even if someone is
suffering from influenza, eating oranges are useful.
Caraway Seeds:
Take 3 grams of caraway seeds and 3 grams of cinnamon and boil them in water,
taking this is beneficial.
Take two cups of water and put 12 grams of caraway seeds,
boil the water, when water is reduced to half, let it cool down, strain and
drink it. Drinking this water four times a day cures influenza.
Ginger: Boil
together 3 – 4 grams of ginger or dried ginger powder, 7 – 10 basil leaves, 7 –
8 corns of black pepper, little bit of cinnamon 250 ml of water. Add sugar and take it hot. It cures
influenza, coryza, cough and headache. It also acts as a preventive treatment
during the spread of influenza.
Cinnamon: Boil 5 –
6 grams of cinnamon, two corns of black pepper and ¼ liter of water. When it is
reduced to ¼ split this water in 3 parts, take them thrice during the day, it
will be beneficial.
Long Pepper: Boil
either two long peppers or ¼ tsp of dried ginger powder in milk and drink.
Honey: Mix 2 tsp
of honey and ½ tsp of baking powder in a cup of hot milk. Drink this two times
a day that is in the morning and evening. It will cause lot of sweating. Don not
expose to wind while you are sweating. It will treat coryza and influenza. Honey
kills the germs in cough and reduces the severity of headache and fever.
Basil: Boil 10
-12 grams of basil leaves in 250 ml of water, when the water is reduced to ¼ strain
it, add some rock salt and drink it hot, it will be beneficial.
Do not consume the cereals till the fever lasts. Tea, milk,
large raisins and sweet lime juice can be taken.
