Fenugreek Leaves |
Fenugreek
has been used in ancient times as food as well as medicine. It has light green
leaves and yellow flowers and the seeds are brownish- yellow in color.
The leaves
of fenugreek are rich in calcium, phosphorous, iron, carotene, thiamine,
niacin, riboflavin and Vitamin C.
The
fenugreek seeds have several alkaloids and its calorific value is 333, fenugreek
seeds contain calcium, phosphorous, carotene, thiamine, niacin and riboflavin.
The seeds are also useful in the treatment of colic, dysentery, diarrhea and
dyspepsia.
Healthy
Body: Fenugreek has great medicinal
value and its regular use helps to keep the body clean and healthy.
Indigestion: Fenugreek leaves are beneficial for
indigestion, flatulence and sluggish fevers.
Treatment of
Anemia: Fenugreek leaves help in blood formation, the cooked leaves help in
preventing anemia. Fenugreek seeds are rich in iron thus helps in recovering
from anemia.
Mucus:
Fenugreek seeds have soothing effect on mucous membrane, relieving any
irritation of the skin and alleviating swelling and pain.

Problems: Consumption of fenugreek seeds

4 cup of fenugreek tea. The quantity may be reduced as the condition improves.
To improve the taste, add few drops of lemon juice.

and Body Odor: The fenugreek tea is also helpful to eliminate bad breath and
body odor, fenugreek tea if taken regularly.
Diabetes:
Fenugreek seeds can also be taken for diabetes, take 2 teaspoon of fenugreek
seed powder in broth or milk or swallow 2 teaspoon of whole fenugreek seeds
daily. Alternatively soak the fenugreek seed in water at night and in morning
drink the water.
Dandruff:
Fenugreek seeds are beneficial in removing dandruff, soak two tablespoon of
fenugreek seeds overnight, next morning make the paste of soaked seed and apply
the paste on the scalp for half hour after that wash your hairs with mild
shampoo.
Paste of
fresh fenugreek leaves, if applied regularly, also helps to cure dandruff.
Mouth
Ulcers: Fenugreek is helpful in curing mouth ulcers. An infusion of leaves
should be used to gargle for repetitive ulcers.

Sore Throat:
Gargle of fenugreek seeds is good for sore throat. Put two tablespoons of
fenugreek seeds in one liter of water and allowed to simmer for 30 – 40 minutes
on low flame. Let it cool down to room temperature and use entire water for
gargle.
Leucorrhoea:
Spray of fenugreek tea is very effective in treating leucorrhoea.
Swellings: Paste
made out of fenugreek leaves helps to cure swellings and it is also useful in
burns due to their cooling properties.
Hair Growth:
Paste of fresh fenugreek leaves when applied regularly before bath, aids hair
growth and make hair soft and preserve natural color.
Face Care: Apply
paste of fenugreek leaves before going to bed and wash with warm water helps to
cure pimples, blackheads, dryness of face and wrinkles. It improves complexion
and makes you look younger.
Lactation:
Fenugreek seeds made into gruel increases the flow of milk in nursing mother.
